JAI has some news that will definitely brighten your day! They will soon be releasing what they are calling the “Spark Series.” This series will offer high-end performance for applications where resolution and high frame rates are important. This makes it the first time JAI will have cameras that offer the benefits of CMOS at frame rates that their previous CCD cameras couldn’t achieve.
The first camera within this series is the SP-2000MCL. This particular camera has a 20 megapixel CMOS sensor and a frame rate of 30fps. This would make it a perfect camera for LCD inspection applications. This certainly places JAI in a strong industry position when it comes to both resolution and speed.
The second camera will be the SP-5000CXP. This camera also breaks tradition by using a 5 megapixel CMOS sensor. Although JAI has a 5 megapixel offering in its current lineup, this new camera will run at an unprecedented 250 frames per second. A few industries looking to use a 5 megapixel camera with this kind of high frame rates are, Medical, Transportation Inspection, and Forensics.
Now, for the real speed demon in the Spark series, the SP-4000MCL, which offers similar features as the other two, but in terms of frame rate, it clearly is the fastest with an unbelievable 340fps. What kind of application needs that kind of speed? Well, that would be web inspection which is the industry with the most demanding speed requirements of all.
Eventually, JAI will introduce more than 50 different models within this series. Ultimately offering each sensor size in all of the industry standard interfaces. With so many options, JAI's Spark Series is sure to spark an interest.
