JAI SW-4000M-PMCL Camera

The Sweep Series model SW-4000M-PMCL is a 4096 pixel monochrome line scan camera for high-speed industrial inspection applications.

For high-speed inspection applications:
The SW-4000M-PMCL camera features a 4K custom designed CMOS monochrome line sensor, delivering a scan rate of up to 200 kHz (200,000 lines/second) via a Power-over-mini-Camera-Link interface.

The SW-4000M-PMCL is presently among the fastest cameras on the market with 4096 pixels, making it very suitable for demanding line scan applications such as web inspection (paper, plastic), print inspection, document scanning, parcel/postal sorting, electronic/wafer inspection, and sports imaging finish line applications.

Two light collection modes:
The SW-4000M-PMCL model can be set in two different quantum well modes. In mode A the camera is set to a small quantum well and mode B with a large quantum well.

Mode B:
When SW-4000M-PMCL runs in mode B (large well) the quantum well can hold a larger amount of electrons, providing images with higher signal/noise ratios and higher dynamic range (better image contrast). (NB: Stronger scene light is needed to run in mode B).

Mode A:
In some applications, highest image quality is not paramount. Instead, the challenge is to achieve brighter images and better image contrast in scenes with lower light levels. In these situations, the camera can be set to mode A.

In mode A, the camera is set to a smaller quantum well and the pixel sensitivity increases. This enables the well to fill faster under less light, providing a higher response on the grey scale. (NB: Because of the smaller well, noise is a larger percentage of the total well, making the signal/noise ratio lower in mode A).

Example of mode A use: 100% inspection in pharmaceutical:
In a typical 100% inspection application (not just a random check), the system might only need to check whether a specific label is present or not present on medicine boxes. This check does not require perfect image quality and thus the inspection can be done with less scene light and the camera running in mode A.

Specified for demanding industrial environments:
The SW-4000M-PMCL is built to JAI’s high shock (80G) and vibration (10G) standards to keep it running fast, year after year.

With small dimension: 62(H) x 62(W) x 48(L) mm; a weight of only 320 g; an ambient operating temperature range of -5 C to +45 C together with a low power consumption (5.22W), the SW-4000M-PMCL is built to operate and last in even the most demanding industrial environments - providing users with low-cost-of-ownership.

The SW-4000M-PMCL camera is available with F-mount and M42 mount and the 8 and 10-bit data output is handled via a Camera Link Deca interface.
